George Giga Agladze, known professionally as Agler, was born on October 12th 1974, in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is best recognized for his unique and often indeterminate artistic style. Over his 24-years of filmmaking career, Giga has made significant contributions as a director, screenwriter, producer, musician, and photographer.

Movies

In 2019, Giga directed the film “The Other Me,” with David Lynch as the executive producer. The film stars Jim Sturgess in the lead role, along with renowned actors such as Andreja Pejic, one of the most famous transgender woman, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Michael Socha, Jordi Molla, Billy Barratt, Rhona Mitra, and Orla Brady. “The Other Me” was nominated at the Septimius Film Festival and won the award for Best Producer.

In 2023, Giga shot the film in UK called: “A Mother for an Hour,” featuring a talented cast that includes Frances Barber, Asia Argento, Laura Whitmore, Erin Ainsworth, Geoff Bell, Tamer Hassan, Hayley Walters, and Ciaran Dowd.

Earlier Works

Giga’s earlier works include documentaries such as “Allan” which chronicles the life of Alan Rickman.

Eighth Generation” focusing on the history of the world-famous brand Hennessy, and “4 Days for Love” a documentary about David Lynch.

He also directed “French Georgian Stories” which explores the lives of famous Georgian emigrants in France, and short films like “The Iron Curtain” addressing Russian government aggression and the territorial occupation of Georgia, also
47th Days of May” and “Henry“.

Music

One of his notable achievements as a musician includes the 2001 song “Beautiful Day,” which won multiple awards at the Georgian Song Festival for Best Song, Best Band, and Best Lyrics.

That same year, Giga was the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band “Wind“, which underwent a name change in 2017 to “Killer Band“, inspired by filmmaker David Lynch.

Giga later composed the song “Change Begins Within” reflecting the slogan of Lynch’s foundation, where Giga serves as CEO for the Caucasus region, covering Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Since then, he has written various acclaimed songs.

Photography

In addition to filmmaking, Giga has a deep passion for photography.

His first film, “My Diary” was a photo film created during his studies at film university in Georgia, where he shot over 1,200 negatives, weaving together a compelling visual narrative. He has also held several photography exhibitions.
